Animal Acupuncture

Acupuncture has been practiced for thousands of years to help the body to heal itself. Very fine needles inserted into specific points of the body change the signaling pathways to promote pain relief, healing, and immune system stimulation.  Dr. Hadlock offers various techniques including dry acupuncture and electroacupuncture. Point selection is based on traditional 5 elements and 8 principle theory. She also holds certification in the advanced technique of acupuncture, called the Balance Method.

Acupuncture Treatment

For most animals, the insertion of acupuncture needles is virtually painless and once the needles are in place, there should be no pain. Most animals become very relaxed and may become sleepy.

Acupuncture can be used as a standalone treatment, but is most often used in conjunction with other treatment modalities such as tui na, chiropractic, and medicine.

The Balance Method

The Balance Method, derived from I-Ching Acupuncture, distinguishes itself by its rapid response. When needles are correctly placed, the effects are immediate, providing relief within seconds or minutes, particularly in pain management. This efficiency is attributed to a precise understanding of Shu Points, also known as Command Points, strategically located below the Elbow and Knee.

To achieve such remarkable results, practitioners must master a myriad of concepts, from the intricacies of the 12 joints to the principles of Imaging and Mirror, Global Balance, and the 12 Magical Points. Understanding the Ba-Gua, trigrams, hexagrams, the 5 Elements Theory, and Seasonal Balance further enhances the ability to utilize energetic points in lower extremity for immediate relief.

At the core of the Balance Method lies a 3-step strategy designed to address localized symptoms swiftly and effectively. Whether it's pain, numbness, stiffness, tingling, or burning sensations, this method offers targeted relief with precision and speed. Moreover, with just 4, 8, 9, or 12 needles, entire meridians or multiple meridians can be balanced simultaneously, optimizing treatment outcomes while minimizing invasiveness.
